Virtual workshop “Energy sector and the opportunities for Public-Private Partnership”

On the 1st of February, 2022, from 2 pm to 5 pm, Kyiv time zone, a virtual workshop titled “Energy sector and the opportunities for Public-Private Partnership” will take place. 

The event will be hosted online, using remote means of communication.

The languages of the event are Ukrainian and English (translation will be provided). 

To facilitate the development of the PPP mechanism in the energy sector and to increase the institutional capacity of PPP project initiators from the public sector, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, together with the SO “PPP Agency” and with the support of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Public-Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility (PPIAF) is organising a workshop titled “Energy sector and the opportunities for Public-Private Partnership”.

During the event, the leading experts and specialists of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group will explain the peculiarities of the PPP mechanism in the energy sector and present international experience in the implementation of PPP projects in this sector, including those involving the production of electricity from renewable sources.

The key speaker of the first part of the workshop will be  Bernard Atlan, Principal Investment Officer of the International Finance Corporation. His speech will encompass the following topics:

  • Energy sector key challenges and how is PPP addressing these 
  • Energy sector PPP specific for Ukraine 
  • Global IFC experience in solar PPPs 

The second part of the event will focus on the international experience and trends in PPP in the energy sector. 

Filip Drapak, Energy Expert of the International Finance Corporation will discuss trends in the energy sector with a focus on renewable energy sources. 

Mario Turkovic, Senior International PPP Expert of the International Finance Corporation will present the Croatian Experience in using renewable energy sources.

Enrique Lora, Evaluation Specialist and Energy Expert will examine the impact of renewable energy sources on market creation.
